This rug is from our Nooristan line. It takes its name from Afghanistan’s remote and inaccessible province of Nooristan. This is one of the most finely woven lines of carpets produced anywhere with all natural dyes and handspun wool. This rug was woven by Turkmen weavers in northern Afghanistan using a Persian knot. The weaving is approximately 15x15 or 225 knots per square inch. The designs we produce in this line vary from the finely knotted carpets of the Iranian tradition such as Bidjar, Kashan, Tabriz and Farahan Sarouk to Mughal carpets, Mamluk carpets and other less well known types of designs.
